Hello again everyone..

Where does the time go? It’s coming up to my 1 year anniversary working for the Toolbox project and I can honestly say I’ve enjoyed every single minute of it.

Winter is fast approaching and I am so looking forward to nice cosy nights in any excuse to put my big fluffy pj’s on and watch movies with a mug of hot choc with marsh mallows Yummy!

I frequently start my day off meeting people in Tamworth library and I have something that never fails to cheer me up and put a big smile on my face. The squirrels run about just on the grass outside the library, each with their very own little personality so tame and I’m sure they put a show on for the public. It’s almost like a habit for me now, if I don’t see any at first I will look about until I see them.
I’ve been really busy out and about, here there and everywhere meeting lovely people, not just carrying out Toolbox appointments but meeting different people and visiting various organisations around that we can work alongside to be able to help everyone.

I recently visited The Tamworth Well being Cancer Support Centre, this centre is set up to support anyone or their family in their needs, while coping with cancer and other chronic illnesses.

As soon as I walked through the door I was welcomed with open arms and offered a cuppa. I sat and had a chat with the amazing staff and some of the people who visit the centre. The centre is lovely and felt so homely. Everyone was sitting doing arts & crafts, enjoying each other’s company having a chit chat. I was so impressed to hear everything this centre offers from Holistic Therapies (massages and nails etc.) where a beautician comes in on a regular basis, Wig fitting and styling by a hairdresser, Bra fitting and prosthetics, coffee mornings, a listening ear or even just for a hug.

I’ve attended forums to find out what’s going on and been to many courses that we recommend to everyone just to see what they are like first hand. I have learned so much in the past few months.

I took part in a speed dating type event this week set up by the GP practices in the Cannock area which was good fun. There were lots of tables with various organisations on them and the GP reception staff had 5 minutes at each table to find out as much as they could about each service. This GP practices now know where to signpost patients to.

Something we recommend to promote and maintain mental well being is exercise so I thought I better start practising what I preach, I decided to sign up for the couch to 5K challenge, I’ve never ran in my life but thought I would challenge myself and in turn get fit, feel mentally better, have some me time and meet new friends. So watch this space I will let you all know how I got on in my next blog.

Until then, see you next time, Carolann.
